The First Ever Openly Gay Album Released In India; Pragya Pallavi Releases 'Queerism'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Having already been featured on Jeremy Vine - BBC Radio 2, BBC Asian Network, Gay Star News, Billboard Pride, Pink News and Gay Times, Pragya Pallavi has already established herself as one of the most exciting new musicians to come out of India.

Born in Patna and now based in Mumbai, Pragya is a singer/songwriter, musician, percussionist and performer who is classically trained as a Hindustani vocalist. Her 9-track album 'Queerism' features songs in English and Hindi, in a variety of styles including disco and EDM, hip-hop and jazz soul, Indian-fusion, funk, and dancehall and is the first album by an openly queer artist to be released from India since the historic 377 verdict in October 2018 that decriminalised gay sex in India.
'A stunning celebration of queer love' - Gay Times
'The music is striking, the lyrics sensual' - Times of India
'Pragya Pallavi is not only breaking the glass ceiling in India's music scene, she's absolutely smashing it.' - Gay Star News
'Totally inspiring' - BBC Asian Network

Pragya says: 'I am a person who is not confined to any single genre, nationality, religion or gender. I want to bring together Indian and western, contemporary and traditional musical influences in a way that all types of people can relate to. I know songs have the power to create a movement, this is my attempt at being that voice for LGBTIQA+ persons across the world'

Pragya's first four singles "Lingering Wine", "Girls You Rule", "Izzat De" and "Mama I Need You" and album concept have been widely well received by both international and Indian media. She has been featured and interviewed on the prestigious Jeremy Vine talk show on BBC Radio 2, and BBC Asian Network. Her music is on rotation on a number of UK, US and Indian radio shows. She has received positive coverage from LGBTQI international press such as Pink News, Gay Times and Gay Star News, as well as being covered in a variety of international music blogs. In India, Pragya's music and story have been covered by Mid-Day, Times of India, New Indian Express, News Minute, Blush Magazine, Radio Mirchi, Radio One, SoundboxIndia etc.
