New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ WiFi-PR Group) A funky foursome out of Australia, Velshur began as a live band primarily, playing scads of shows throughout their career, but now they are armed with their self-titled debut EP, and an upcoming international tour to support it. Fans around the globe will be tuning in and dancing to their newly released tunes in addition to their track "Spanish Sound," which will be featured on WiFi PR Group's upcoming compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 5.
Velshur is comprised of four talented musicians who come from a wide range of backgrounds and musical influences and who are all originally from Byron Bay, NSW, Australia. They include Ben Walsh on vocals and guitar, Jules Hendrix Crommelin on lead guitar, Tobias Tsounis on bass guitar and Pat Smith on drums.
The foursome draws musical inspiration from a mix of old blues, funk and soul as well of that produced sound of big pop & stadium filling chorus that you hear on the radio today, supported by real instruments with funk rock roots.
Their sound is a fresh blend of pop and funk with touches of upbeat ska and reggae. They also include strokes of indie rock, all with the intention of making the crowd move and shake. They are most often compared to Red Hot
Chili Peppers, The
Dandy Warhols and The Strokes.
On the radar for the band's near future is a new album release and a spring tour in March and April 2014 for which the band will travel across the UK and EU playing at various venues in several different countries. It is a tour in support of their upcoming debut EP Spanish Sound, also to be released in April in the U.S. and eventually worldwide as well. The group also aims to be touring festivals internationally by the end of this year.
The upcoming album was mastered by Vlado Meller, who has also worked with Frank Ocean,
Kanye West and others, at Masterdisk in New York. The first mix received mixing and production help from the engineering of Nicholas Wilson, who has recorded and toured with bands from John Paul Jones of
Led Zeppelin and Seasick Steve to
Wolfmother and Sticky Fingers, to name a few. The final mix was engineered by
Blake Eiseman, who has worked with the likes of
James Brown to Beyonce, Justin Beiber Pink,
Pearl Jam and a number of other big-name artists.
In addition, Velshur will join a host of other international talent spanning a variety of genres when their track "Spanish Sound," a single off their upcoming EP, is included on WiFi PR Group's upcoming compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 5, set to be released at Coachella in April 2014. The digital mixtape will be handed out on 3,500 download cards to festival attendees, and 1,500 more copies will be made available through the Indie Anthems Bandcamp website.
