NEW YORK, NY (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) Rostrum/Atlantic recording artist Wiz Khalifa's highly-anticipated "ROLLING PAPERS" arrives in stores and at all online retailers today. The album - which marks the rapper's major label debut - features the RIAA-certified 2X platinum single "Black And Yellow," the buzz track "On My Level (feat. Too $hort)," as well as the current single "Roll Up." "ROLLING PAPERS" sees production from the likes of Stargate, Jim Jonsin, Benny
Blanco and more. To celebrate the release of "ROLLING PAPERS," Wiz will take the stage tonight at New York's Roseland Ballroom for a sold-out performance, where the 3,000 ticket show sold out in a mind-blowing 16 minutes. As part of iTunes' "Countdown to Rolling Papers" promotion, the rapper released the Benny Blanco-produced "No Sleep," which shot to the top of the iTunes overall singles chart a day after it was released to the digital retailer.
Wiz celebrates the release of "ROLLING PAPERS" with a string of promotional activities, including a 30-minute set on today's episode of BET's 106th & Park that is not to be missed (check local listings). Other appearances include a two song performance and interview on FUSE's Hoppus On Music (airing this Friday, April 1st), an interview on MTV's RapFix Live tomorrow March 30th, as well as being featured on MTV's Ten On Top this Saturday, April 2nd (check local listings).
On top of performing at sold-out venues on the 17-city "Campus Consciousness Green Carpet Tour," the Pittsburgh-native is also slated to appear at numerous upcoming festivals. Khalifa first took SXSW by storm earlier this month, where he performed alongside labelmates B.o.B and Janelle Monae at the Atlantic Records "Killers Lasers Papers" showcase sponsored by Cisco Eos. April 17th will then see the rapper headed to the Californian desert to take the famed Coachella stage where the line-up includes such acts as Kanye West, Chromeo, and The Strokes, just to name a few. Following this, Wiz will co-headline the Bamboozle Festival on April 27th, alongside Lil Wayne, Motley Crue, LMFAO, and more.
Khalifa spent the early part of 2011 gracing the covers of numerous major national publications, including cover stories in The Source, Fader, DUB, Complex and VIBE. What's more, Wiz also covered Rolling Stone's first-ever "Hot List" issue. The rapper, who Entertainment Weekly named as one of their "11 To Watch in 2011," provided the soundtrack to MTV's Spring Break 2011 at the Palms Resort and Casino and BET's Rip The Runway, with his electrifying live stage performances. In addition, Wiz was also featured in a recent installment of MTV's When I Was 17, which aired this past weekend.
Earlier this month, Wiz stole the show at the mtvU's 2011 Woodie Awards, with a blockbuster medley performance of his new single "Roll Up" and his smash hit, "Black And Yellow." Not stopping there, the night also saw Wiz take home the "Woodie of the Year" award, given to the artist and song that made the biggest impact on the college scene over the past year.
