Yamaha Among Top 100 Global Innovators For Third Consecutive Year, According To New Clarivate Analytics Report
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Yamaha Audio Video components represent one of many innovative products from the Japan-based manufacturer to earn Top 100 Global Innovator distinction.
"We are delighted to have our work recognized by Clarivate Analytics as one of the top 100 innovators worldwide three years in a row," said Tom Sumner, senior vice president, Yamaha Corporation of America.

Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) named Yamaha as a 2016 Top 100 Global Innovator.

This is the fourth time, and the third consecutive year that Yamaha has earned this distinction in the survey's six-year history, joining other high-profile companies including Amazon, Apple, Google (now Alphabet Inc.), Microsoft, Samsung Electronics, among others.

The Hamamatsu, Japan-based manufacturer of musical instruments, sound reinforcement, commercial installation and home entertainment products was measured against Clarivate Analytics' methodology, which analyzes patent and citation data across four main criteria: volume, success, globalization and influence. According to Clarivate Analytics Executive Vice President David Brown, this objective formula identifies the companies around the world that are active in innovation through research and development, IP protection and commercialization.

"Yamaha has always had an unwavering commitment to developing new, innovative solutions for our customers," says Tom Sumner, senior vice president, Yamaha Corporation of America. "We are delighted to have our work recognized by Clarivate Analytics as one of the top 100 innovators worldwide three years in a row."

According to the 2016 report, the companies making the list "occupy the sweet spot of innovation, where pure R&D meets corporate strategy for protecting intellectual property and producing outsize growth." These 100 companies invested on average 9.1 percent more on R&D than organizations on the S&P 100 list, and totaled a massive $4 trillion revenue in 2015, a figure supported by more than $227 billion spent on R&D.
