Nashville, TN (Lynyrd Skynyrd Official Website) - As reported Thursday night, (May 18) Johnny Van Zant, lead singer for southern rock's most famous touring band Lynyrd Skynyrd and one half of the country duo Van Zant, underwent an emergency operation for appendicitis. The surgery was successful. 'Mr. Johnny Van Zant underwent surgery at Stanford University Hospital for appendicitis. He will remain hospitalized for the next one or two days recovering,' James T. Badger, MD. Lynyrd Skynyrd will return to touring in 7 days. 'I would like to thank all my friends and fans who have expressed concern and sent their prayers,' says Johnny Van Zant.
