"Morphine Meets John Lee Hooker"; LA's The Record Company Release New EP
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Missing Piece Group) Influenced by Morphine and The Stooges, yet steeped in the classic styles of Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker comes the new raw sound of the LA based rock/blues/roots trio, THE RECORD COMPANY. They've burst onto the scene in an alarmingly short amount of time, forming just a little under two years ago, and have already gained high praises and garnered the attention of some of music's top names. Highlights to date include performing shows with Buddy Guy, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Social Distortion, Ivan & Alyosha, and JD McPherson. Next month, they'll even share a bill with the legendary B.B. King at the Segerstrom Center in Costa Mesa! The Record Company will release Feels So Good, their second EP, on November 19th.

"Making bluesy music in LA that would sound more at home in a sweaty, backwoods Mississippi juke joint." - L.A. Weekly

"A collection of subtle, funky, and well played blues music that harkens the musical spirits of Morphine and John Lee Hooker." - The Key/WXPN

THE RECORD COMPANY has received wide-spread exposure through the use of their new title track "Feels So Good" in the theatrical trailer for "Last Vegas," starring Morgan Freeman and Robert De Niro.

The band has scored other placements and syncs simply by building their buzz organically, including having songs on ABC's Nashville, CBS' Elementary and Reckless, and USA's Suits, Necessary Roughness, and Royal Pains. Their songs have also been used in ads for Kohler, Subaru, Coors Light, and ABC Sports.

Jason Kramer (KCRW) raved that "The first time I saw them I was mesmerized...a classic blues feel with a rock n' roll vibe. It feels incredibly natural," while Time Out LA stated "The band's sound is raw, definitely bluesy and reminiscent of some of the best acts of the '50s and '60s - like if John Lee Hooker and the Stooges had a well-behaved love child."

Last week, Elmore Magazine premiered the new title track along with a video from their recently taped live concert session in front of a private audience. Check it out here:

The Record Company consists of Chris Vos on vocal, guitar and harmonica; bassist/vocalist Alex Stiff; and drummer/vocalist Marc Cazorla. The band came together in Los Angeles, but their sound is rooted in their years of musical fandom growing up in Milwaukee (Vos), Philadelphia (Stiff) and upstate New York (Cazorla). The band released their first EP, Superdead, in July 2012. While never trying to simply emulate the great masters, the band have found their own fresh take on the music and can best be described as a group giving a 21st century nod to a timeless art form. "One night we may be playing with a rockabilly band, the next night with a punk band or a blues act, and we'll get great response from those different audiences. The music's close enough to the bone, where we can cross a lot of genres and know that we're connecting with people," says Chris.
