New Mayans Take Fans On An Epic Journey With "Crimes" EP
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Indie rock band, New Mayans, dropped their invigorating new EP, Crimes, painting the musical landscape of a distant and surreal fantasy world. The band presents an epic fusion of distorted guitar work and blaring, sonorous vocals leaving fans head-banging their way through an intense sonic experience. Crimes is available on Bandcamp now.

Crimes transports fans further into the cosmic world composed of influences from art rock and cinematic fantasy that display the alluring diversity to edgy alt-rock, which the group is known for producing. Produced by Mario McNulty (David Bowie, NIN, Lou Reed), the EP opens with the haunting melody of Universe, a slow ballad that looks to the past from the viewpoint of a dystopian future. Lead singer, Swiggy, howls with fervent vocals over the percussive track, Glue Boiler, his cinematic influences are fully realized in the shredding guitar work that sounds like a final showdown between the forces of good and evil. Jezebel is perhaps the best demonstration of Swiggys monstrous guitar work, in this grizzly track that pines after the mysterious figure of a woman named Jezebel. The title track, Crimes, is tantalizing with ominous harmonies and mellow symphonic verses that twist and turn into a stellar eruption of edgy guitar licks and ethereal synthesizer reverbs. With the songs evocative refrain, loneliness is a ghost that haunts me, viscous to their memories, New Mayans fans will be thrilled to experience their dynamic sound. Reminiscent of Swiggys early muses like Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Morrissey, the Crimes EP takes audiences into a black hole of ruthless musicianship that echo into the ethereal.

At the tender age of eight, lead singer Swiggy began a long journey of instrumental expertise beginning with violin lessons and growing into piano, guitar, saxophone and vocal mastery. With his adroit musicianship, Swiggy started creating his own sound and in 2014 his innovative instrumental concepts came to fruition when bassist Nathan Gilberg, drummer Sterling Campbell (David Bowie, The B-52s, Duran Duran), and studio guitarist Earl Slick (David Bowie, John Lennon, Keith Richards) fell together to create the New Mayans. The band creates an exhilarating sound born from inspiration of old school rock legends like Led Zeppelin and David Bowie, yet resonating with modern icons like Smashing Pumpkins. New Mayans has shared the stage with notable acts such as The Ataris, Nico Vega, and InnerPartySystem, and has performed at venues such as The Chicago House of Blues, The Social, Off Broadway, and The Pageant.

As the greatest display of artistry seen from the group to date, the Crimes EP is a fantastical explosion of rock n roll that is truly otherworldly. New Mayans ceaselessly astonish spectators and as their revolutionary music becomes more and more beguiling with each release, so escalates the anticipation for the 2016 release of their upcoming album, Odyssey.
