New York, NY (Top40 Charts / Strange Conversations) Two brothers...13 years and 1000 miles apart write, produce, and record a concept album based on the characters in Ernest Hemingway's Old Man and The Sea. Admittedly, we probably lost a few of you already with the sheer "geekiness" of that sentence, but for those who chose to stick around...

Jeremy Haynes, singer/songwriter and "the older and wiser brother" had this to say, "At its core, the book is a story about the power of human relationships and their ability to help us persevere through even the most seemingly hopeless circumstance. My own father was a fisherman himself, so Hemmingway's words in this book always resonated with me. When we lost him two years ago I knew I had to write this record."

Asked about the story, Joseph Haynes, lyricist and, "the good looking one" stated "I wanted to develop a beautiful parallel between Hemingway's book and the legacy of our father."

The band describes their style as: "An unapologetic stew of Progressive Rock, Pop, Hard Rock, and 70's, 80's, and 90's classics," Haynes continued, "We wanted this to be a progressive record but without all of the excess. Don't get me wrong, I love a good 26 minute song, but for this, I wanted something more concise. 13 songs, 50 minutes, written with two sides of vinyl in mind, like many of my favorite classic records."

Writing for the album started in late 2017 over Skype sessions, many lasting late into the night and occasionally into the early morning hours. Joseph Haynes added, "we actually took the band title Strange Conversations from the looks and comments we'd get from our spouses who could often hear only one side of these bizarre writing sessions!" The album was recorded over the course of five months in 2018 at The Beat Lab Studios in Salem, NH.

Friends, family and guest musicians from around the world were asked to participate in the sessions. Jeremy added, "Knowing that I wanted to add additional textures to the record such as real violins and violas, choir vocals, additional female lead vocals and real horns and brass, we turned to some amazingly talented musicians and singers around the world to contribute to the arrangements on several tracks. The miracles of modern technology at work!"

Brent Hendrich was called upon for mixing starting in August of 2018 and finally, the record was mastered by Tom Waltz during the month of October 2018.
