Lakeshore Records Presents G.B.F. - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ CineMedia Promotions) Lakeshore Records will release the G.B.F. - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally and Amazon On Demand on January 14, 2014. The soundtrack features songs by Tones on Tail, Dragonette, Tegan and Sara, Veva and Hi Fashion. The film, which was directed by Darren Stein (JAWBREAKER), debuted at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival.

"I've always loved the idea of a song being emotionally linked to a film," said Stein. "I grew up listening to the soundtracks to John Hughes movies and I wanted G.B.F. to evoke that feeling of discovery and nostalgia."

The acronym G.B.F. stands for "Gay Best Friend" which has recently been deemed the hottest new fad at North Gateway High School; the Queen Bees need a G.B.F.! But there is one big problem: none of the gay guys at their posh suburban high school are out of the closet. The vicious lady monarchs of the school, a.k.a. the three lead prom queen candidates, are not going to let this minor glitch get in their way; a G.B.F. is just what they need to give them that edgy, high-fashion appeal and win over the ultimate prize: the high school popularity crown.

"I worked closely with music supervisors Dan Arriaga and Evan Stein to find the perfect songs for the film." Stein continued, "we're hoping the 13 we chose for the soundtrack embody the world of G.B.F. in a complete way."

Vertical Entertainment presents G.B.F., in theaters and VOD on January 17 and DVD on February 10, 2014. The G.B.F. - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be available digitally and via Amazon on Demand on January 14, 2014.

ABOUT THE SONGS

As described by G.B.F. director Darren Stein:
"The dreamy shoe-gaze band Glacial Walls' cover Spandau Ballet's "True," recalls Sixteen Candles, but in a modern way musically where we evoke that dance scene but at a Prom where two boys are dancing.

Tegan and Sara have a youthful, shimmery 80s vibe that perfectly mirrored the timeless world of the film. "Closer" was one of the big songs of 2013 and it feels right to have it in G.B.F as a benchmark of when the film was made.

Heven's "Gay Best Friend" is a fun song you'd here at a club, but it's also not afraid to be tongue-in-cheek about the absurdity of calling someone your "G.B.F."

Veva's "H.E.R" was the perfect update for the iconic slow-motion strut shot from "Jawbreaker." The lyrics and propulsive beat drive home the Amazonian power of the clique queens.

Dragonette's "Our Summer" and CSS's "Alala" give the film a percussive female-driven vibe that fit with the hyperreal and colorful visuals and slang-infused dialogue.

LA-based electro pop duet Hi-Fashion's song "Lighthouse" seemed the most fitting for the soundtrack as the emotional, rousing song for when our core group of friends come back together in the end."
