Recorded on tour this past winter, "Breaking
Strings Live" captures Wakefield's raw, powerful, soulful vocals and highlights his exquisite musicianship and engaging storytelling.
Commenting on the new album, Wakefield said, "Gods &
Ghosts was the first time I recorded a record before road-testing the songs beforehand. Most of the time, we try to re-create the vibe in the studio on stage, but we decided to play around with the instrumentations and arrangements for a few songs, 'Good Morning Sunday' for instance, we completely re-worked from a country 3/4 time ballad to a 4/4 time
Memphis soul groove. I'm excited for folks to hear what we did with some of these songs for the live show. We caught some great moments in these live recordings, especially when the band stretches out in some of the solo sections."
The blues-steeped single, "Breaking Strings," has been receiving high praise and accolades from industry tastemakers since its initial release. WMOT's
Jessie Scott in Murfreesboro, Tennessee said, "Adam Wakefield's voice rumbles with truth on the new tune 'Breaking Strings.' This 2016 The Voice alum delivers sultry soul and worker grit." "Breaking Strings" was also recognized as one of NPR's Station Breaks for 2019, the best new songs from NPR
Music Stations (WMOT).
Likewise, Mattson Rainer of KNBT in New Braunfels, Texas, commented "Adam Wakefield sounds like an artist we should have been playing for 20 years. The man has soul and is a hugely welcome addition to the scene."
Named one of Pandora's New Artists to Watch in 2019, Wakefield's music has been featured on Apple Music's Country Roads and A-List: Americana playlists, and YouTube Music's
Modern Day Outlaws and The New Americana playlists, among others across all streaming services.
