Anat Cohen Debuts New Quartetinho At Miller Theatre At Columbia University On March 7
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Prolific clarinetist-saxophonist Anat Cohen will debut a brand new group - the Anat Cohen Quartetinho - at the Miller Theatre at Columbia University on March 7. Cohen has earned accolades from audiences, critics, and peers alike, including being "Clarinetist of the Year" by the Jazz Journalists Association every year since 2007. Quartetinho was birthed from her GRAMMY-nominated Tentet, who released their highly-lauded project Triple Helix this past summer. The members of the quartet hail from Israel, the US and Brazil, and explore a myriad of musical influences, acoustic and electronic sounds.

Quartetinho features Anat (clarinet & bass clarinet), Vitor Gonçalves (accordion & piano), Tal Mashiach (bass & 7-string guitar), and James Shipp (percussion, vibraphone, & electronics).

Along with its nomination for Best Large Jazz Ensemble, Triple Helix was included on NPR's 2019 Jazz Critics Poll, and was deemed "a work of considerable expressive reach" by the Chicago Tribute. JazzTimes also called Anat at her most "fresh, sophisticated and daring." Anat has topped DownBeat's Critics Poll for her instrument every year this decade, from 2010-2019, calling her recent project "arguably a career high" in their cover story.

In addition to this performance, Anat and her Tentet are bringing Triple Helix to Los Angeles for the first time, at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on April 19, on a co-bill with the Maria Schneider Orchestra. Anat is involved in a host of projects and continues to teach at the New School in NYC as well. See below for her current 2020 itinerary.
