Aree and The Pure Hearts' debut EP 'Heartstrings' was released in
September 2015 and has garnered plenty of attention, leading to an opening slot for
Descendents and more. The band's debut full length 'Never Gonna Die' consists of nine heartfelt, explosive rock n roll, soul-infused punk rock anthems, with nods to artists like
Gaslight Anthem and Springsteen's heartland rock of the 70s and 80s.
Aree's voice has been compared to that of
Laura Jane
Grace of
Against Me! and one listen to tracks like "Gasoline Heart" and "Fifty Dollar Bottle of Wine", you'll hear the comparison. These are the type of songs that would be cranked out from a band raised on equal parts 90's hardcore/post hardcore as well as 90's pop and rock music like
Prince and Springsteen.
"It's easy to see this song fall in line with the interests of acts like the Gaslight Anthem, Bruce Springsteen, and the like. Good luck getting that out of your head!"- Rock Cellar Magazine
"Every so often a band comes along that leaves you with feelings of enlightenment and pure musical joy. Aree and The Pure
Heart are one of those bands. Evoking the same poetic rock n' roll melancholia that came with The
Gaslight Anthem and The Loved Ones (Dave Hause's), the band are a wondrous, and sudden surprise."- Sound The Sirens
"There is passion, energy, hooks, choruses that make you sing along, and an earnest honesty that drives it all home. This record is so undeniably infectious with its power chords and, pun intended, pure heart that it is an instant classic. There is such power and purpose in these songs that it reminds you how cathartic and transcendent rock 'n' roll can truly be."- Oklahoma Lefty
"If you are into soul-infused punk rock anthems or have a little piece of your heart reserved for the likes of The Gaslight Anthem,
Laura Jane
Grace or Bruce Springsteen, then it's time to forget about silly superstitions for one second and listen to 'Black Cats.'"- Punk Rock Theory
"(Aree) Ogir has a story and wants to tell the world through music and he does this majestically and flawless."- New Noise
"...incredibly uplifting and the band's ability to write a fantastic song really is apparent..."- Colin's Punk Rock World
"From the very first listen I had visceral reaction to the heart, to the authentic voice. It moves you, and isn't that what music is supposed to do? It connects, elevates, and changes people's lives."- Back Roads & City Streets
