New York (Top40 Charts/ Sunshine, Sachs & Associates) - Singer/Songwriter
Brett Dennen and Brazilian band, Forro in the Dark recently collaborated to record a must-have iTunes Live Session that is available now. Dennen's uptempo, optimistic offerings have earned comparisons to
Bob Marley and Paul Simon, while Forro in the Dark is a New York-based collective of Brazilian ex-pats. Best known for their collaborations with
David Byrne, The Brazilian Girls and Thom Yorke, Forro in the Dark take the rural dance music of Brazil and update it with a New York vibe.
The EP includes reworked songs from Brett's current album, Hope For The Hopeless, including hit single, "Make You Crazy," a brand new song, "Joan of Arc," and fan favorite (and New York City's cab staple) "Blessed." Fans lucky enough to have seen Brett Dennen and Jason Mraz perform together in October will recognize their notable duet "Long Road to Forgiveness."
This Fall, Brett plans a vibe-happy cross-country tour with Grace Potter and The Nocturnals. As Brett told Billboard Magazine, "I'm really excited about this tour because I think it's going to be a little more rocking than tours I've done in the past." He added, "Grace really knows how to rock it."
Also in November, Last Call with Carson Daly will dedicate an entire show to Brett's music on November 23rd. The acoustic performance and interview was taped at the intimate Library Ale House in Santa Monica - one of Brett's favorite haunts. Fans were invited via a last minute Twitter about the taping, turning the evening into an impromptu concert similar to the coffee house shows Brett was playing just six years ago before his grassroots explosion.
Most recently, Dennen released his current single, "Heaven," featuring Natalie Merchant and spent the summer touring some of the biggest festivals like Bonnaroo, Rothbury, Bumbershoot, Austin City Limits, etc, while also playing dates with O.A.R. and Jason Mraz.

ABOUT BRETT: The 6'4' former camp counselor, organic gardener, backpacker from Northern California seems an unlikely front man, yet he nonetheless radiates ease in his own skin. His wit and sentiment amount to a captivating performance and as the audience grows, Brett remains the folky, soulful, and insightful artist that first captured hearts in California coffee houses five years ago.
Dennen's most recent album, Hope For The Hopeless (Dualtone/Downtown Records) debuted in October 2008 as the No 4 Independent Album, the No 6 Digital Album and at No 41 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. The first single, 'Make You Crazy' features Femi Kuti, became a Top Five hit at AAA Radio and was accompanied by a tongue-in-cheek music video featuring Mandy Moore in an ironic take on 'trends' as seen on VH1.
Rolling Stone named Dennen an "Artist to Watch in 2008," and upon the release of Hope For The Hopeless, Dennen performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Good Morning America Weekend, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, CBS Saturday Early Show, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and Last Call with Carson Daly. His music has been featured on Grey's Anatomy, Scrubs and House, among others.
