New York, NY (Top40 Charts/
Calvin Harris Official Website) -
Calvin Harris is hitting the road, visiting some of the biggest stages in North America, including tour stops in Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. The self-styled "King of Electropop", and Burns, one of the most in-demand DJs, producer and remixers on the scene, will also be sharing select stages with techno legend
Paul Oakenfold and electrocker
Steve Aoki along the way.
Brit Award nominee for Best Solo Male, Calvin Harris became an instant poster boy for DIY pop stars with his remarkable leap from bedroom beat-maker to major label artist in 2007. His debut album I Created Disco (2007) established him as one of the prime movers on the scene and led to UK tours supporting major acts like Faithless and Groove Armada. The debut included his number 1 collaboration with British rapper Dizzee Rascal, "Dance Wiv Me". For his follow up release, Ready for the Weekend (2009), Harris declared stadium-size intentions and exceeded his own ambitions. 'What I'm into at the moment', Harris said at the time, 'is the idea of stadium dance. Playing football stadiums with massive riffs, big hands-in-the-air moments.' True to his word, Ready for the Weekend reached number 1 in the UK Album Charts almost overnight; the single "I'm Not Alone" debuted in the UK Singles Chart at No 1 just on downloads. A collaboration with Kylie Minogue and contribution to her Aphrodite album followed. Most recently, Harris has sold out shows headlining main stages around European festivals and at Miami's Winter Music Conference with Kelis, Annie Mac, BURNS and Prince Terrance. His 2009 sales in excess of 1 million singles, 150,000 albums in the UK and 50,000 advance concert tickets, have further fueled Harris' sensational ascent as the self-styled King of Electropop.
Who better to hopscotch around the globe with than fellow Scottish DJ, producer and in-demand remixer, Burns? Harris not only dedicated the song "Burn Night" to him on Ready for the Weekend, while touring with Deadmau5 he also declared, "Burns is better than both us us put together." Combining the holy noise of Mylo or Justice, with the disco sheen of Lindstrom or Prins Thomas, BURNS has also garnered deep props from the likes of Zane Low, Dubfire, Erol Alkan, A-Trak. DJ Mehdi, Annie Mac and of course Deadmau5. His remix roster includes Passion Pit, Empire of the Sun, Ladyhawke and the Gossip. Born to a boxer and a painter on Halloween, Burns became fascinated by sampling software in his adolescence. His last EP, Teknique (the 3rd in a 4 EP series), spawned the hits "Turbo" and "Heartbeats" and was remixed by Jokers of the Scene, Fred Falke and His Majesty Andre. Certifying his status as a leader of a new school, dance music bible MixMag declared Burns 'An electronic remix factory with a very high quality control." Also throwing their enthusiastic support behind Burns, Time Out listed him as a 'Hot Tip for 2010' (No.1). Fresh from contributing the opening track to Kelis latest album, Burns will soon be releasing Y.S.L.M. (You Stopped Loving Me) on Deconstruction Records/Sony (written/produced with Fred Falke) and touring Europe with Goldfrapp, before headlining a South American tour of his own.
Harnessing their collective momentum, Calvin Harris and Burns are bringing their vinyl-melting heat to North America, with mix and match stops at HARD Halloween in Los Angeles, TAO in Las Vegas, guest appearances with Deadmau5, Pete Tong and Kaskade at NYC's famed Roseland, a southwestern US stretch with Paul Oakenfold, Canadian dates with Steve Aoki as well as gigs in Mexico and Puerto Rico. Keep reading about Calvin Harris' and BURNS' takeover of the dance pop world, or join in the revolution of sound at one of the upcoming shows this fall. Better yet, Burns is available for interviews now.
