NEW YORK, NY (Atlantic Records) - Decaydance/ Fueled By Ramen recording group Cobra Starship - the new band led by former Midtown frontman Gabe Saporta - has unveiled plans to join the line-up of MTV2's upcoming "Welcome To The Universe Tour." The trek will follow the release of the band's much-anticipated debut album, "WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS, WE RULE THE STREETS," which will arrive in stores on October 10th.

The "Welcome To The Universe Tour" - part of the "MTV2 $2 Bill Presents" series - is slated to hit the road on October 17th at the Myth in Minneapolis, then travel the U.S. through a November 25th finale at the Wiltern LG in Los Angeles. In addition to Cobra Starship, the multi-band trek will feature performances by 30 Seconds To Mars and Head Automatica, with an array of exciting new rock outfits - including Rock Kills Kid, Pink Spiders, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and Men, Women and Children - joining the bill on select dates.

Prior to the MTV2 itinerary, Cobra Starship is embarking on its debut U.S. tour, accompanying Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen's own Gym Class Heroes on their "Jerry's Kids Short Bus Tour '06." The trek kicks off today, September 14th, at the Icon in Buffalo, New York, and crosses the country with dates continuing through an October 12th show at Jillian's in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cobra Starship will then appear at the eagerly awaited Bamboozle Left extravaganza, slated for Sunday, October 15th, at Cal Poly Pomona Athletic Field in Pomona, California. The band joins an incredible festival line-up that comprises Brand New, Thrice, 30 Seconds To Mars, and many more.

"WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS, WE RULE THE STREETS" was heralded earlier this summer by the breakthrough hit single, "Snakes On A Plane (Bring It)." The song - which sees Saporta joined by such special guests as vocalists William Beckett of The Academy Is..., Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes, Maja Ivarsson of The Sounds, as well as All-American Rejects guitarist Nick Wheeler - was one of the summer's biggest multi-format hits, logging widespread airplay at Alternative, Hot AC, and Triple A outlets nationwide.

The single - which is also featured on the Decaydance/New Line Records release, "SNAKES ON A PLANE: THE ALBUM" - has received big love from critics coast to coast. "This summer's pop anthem kicks some serious asp," declared Entertainment Weekly, while LA Weekly hailed the track as "a true winner, in every sense." The New York Post summed it up best: "Snakes On A Plane (Bring It)" is "the song of the year."

The "Snakes On A Plane (Bring It)" companion video - which includes an appearance from the one-and-only Samuel L. Jackson - has proven a true sensation, recently reaching the No 1 spot at MTV2 and the No 3 spot at FUSE. The clip also received "Summa Cum Laude" airplay at mtvU.
