New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Today sees 19-year-old vocalist, musician and rapper Col3trane share the brand new video for "Tyler". Directed by Felix Brady, who also directed Cole's innovative video for "
Language", "Tyler" is the latest in a long series of visually-arresting visuals from Cole and finds the artist appear in a series of split-personalities in a nod to the song's title. Debuting this morning on Noisey, Cole says, "T he video is supposed to show two sides of my character. the more confident and the more insecure. The caravan sorta acts like a metaphor for my head with all this mad stuff going on inside".
"Tyler" is the third track to be taken from Col3trane's recently released BOOT mixtape, released via TaP Records/Geffen Records, and follows the previously unveiled Oscar Hudson-helmed double video for "Fear & Loathing" & "
Britney". The seven-track BOOT mixtape is available on all DSPs now - links to check all below + a live version of "Tyler" and more via HighSnobiety's Cued Up.
"This wildly quick journey from "kid who likes to make songs in his bedroom" to festival mainstay was a rapid one, and Col3trane's path is a unique case in which an artist pops off via the internet, despite presenting a style of music that's meticulous, precise, and sure of its sound. ...On the just released BOOT,
Basta has come into his own as Col3trane" - NOISEY
"Some of the most intriguing, mercurial soundscapes coming out of London" - HIGHSNOBIETY
"Minimally produced and held together by the syrupy-warmth of Col3trane's vocals" - THE FADER
"Just seven tracks long, Col3trane's Tsarina followup [BOOT] is what happens when an artist makes good on their potential" - PIGEONS & PLANES
