LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Dawbell PR) They're one of the most exciting, most talked about new pop bands of 2012. There's nothing else quite like Barbados' latest exports
Cover Drive right now, but don't take our word for it: over 14 million video views on YouTube/VEVO, three UK Top Ten singles including a No.1 and a Twitter following that has hit 80,000 in just six months. The band release their fourth single, 'Explode' through Polydor Records on August 26th.
Cover Drive have a gift for writing amazing, unique pop songs and 'Explode' is no exception. It follows on from the band's previous UK chart smashes: 'Twilight', which rocketed straight to the top of the charts at the beginning of the year, their last single 'Sparks' and their debut 'Lick Ya Down'. Having already built a devoted following in their native Barbados, the UK and beyond,
Cover Drive have global domination firmly in their sights.
'Explode' infuses the band's zesty Bajan roots with a vibrant feel-good rhythm that is sure to bring the sun to British shores after the most miserable summer on record - a definitive sound dubbed 'carib-pop' that's every bit as unique and distinctive as each of these four talented musicians.
Discovered on the back of their acoustic Fedora sessions on YouTube, Amanda, Jamar, Barry and T-Ray were signed after releasing just one video. Now splitting their time between
Barbados and London they have already won the nation's hearts and attracted celebrity fans including
Jessie J, Emeli Sandé and Ed Sheeran. It seems that the band have also made quite an impression on
Dappy after supporting him on his tour last December. Showing his support and love for these guys, he's put in a special cameo performance in the band's new video for 'Explode'.
Rihanna was introduced to the group through her cousin after seeing their amazing online sessions and went on to personally select the guys to open for her on the
Barbados leg of her recent 'LOUD' tour where they played to over 25,000 people.
Cover Drive will be performing at Hyde Park and
Victoria Park for the BT London Live on July 31st and then onto V Festival for August 18th and 19th. In addition they will be supporting
Kelly Clarkson on her arena tour throughout October and will be joining the JLS boys on their tour in August and September. You'll also hear the band featured on Far East Movement's 'Turn Up The Love', currently moving up the iTunes chart.
The summer's forecast to come to the UK late this year and you can bet your bottom Bajan dollar that
Cover Drive will be getting the party started.
