New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Texas singer-songwriter Dalton Domino has debuted two new tracks from his album Corners, out April 28 on Lightning Rod Records. One Country premiered the title track, a co-write with country artist
Jack Ingram that deals with Domino's personal struggles with alcohol.
"This song was a confessional for me and a realization of my past," Domino tells One Country. "I wrote 'Corners' at a period of time in my life where I had a brief pause in hating myself for the things I did in my past. I realized right then and there I didn't have to be defined by it. As well as, it's not up to anyone but yourself to make that change. It's a song that was a big deal for me personally to write. There was a lot of baggage that disappeared when I was done with it. It was the first step I took in my journey to fix who I was."
The Boot has also embraced Corners, premiering the track "Decent Man," about an unnamed incident that nearly landed Domino in jail. "It's a song about waking up being tired, real tired," he says. "I love this song. We start our show with it every night."
The ten track collection, which was written between Nashville and Fort Worth over the last year, is an album the Lubbock-based songwriter credits with being a journey of finding his true self. Building the songs around his band and thoughtfully crafted lyrics, Corners showcases Domino's varied influences which include everything from punk rock to
Memphis blues to traditional country. The album shows why the 27-year-old was named one of Wide Open Country's 2017 Top
Texas Artists You Need To Know and is quickly establishing himself as a new leader in the
Texas songwriting scene. Corners was also inspired by his work with accomplished Nashville songwriter
Travis Meadows (Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, Jake Owens).
The album features Domino's first Top 10 song on the
Texas Country
Radio Chart and latest single, "July." He is currently on the road through the spring in support of Corners, including a stop at LJT
Texas Music Festival April 29th, as well as select dates with Will Hoge,
Gary Allan and more. Current tour dates are listed below.
