Los Angeles, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Manifesto Records) - Seminal punk rock band Dead Kennedys announced today that the Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death album has been certified Gold in both the United States and the United Kingdom. In God We Trust, Inc. has also been certified Gold in the United Kingdom and in addition, Plastic Surgery Disasters, Frankenchrist and Bedtime for Democracy have all been certified Silver in the UK. This is a monumental achievement considering that all of the recordings were released on independent labels.

"It has not been easy, but I'm proud that we did it ourselves, and that we did not compromise the music," stated the band's guitarist East Bay Ray regarding the band's Gold and Silver accomplishments.

A ten-city promotional tour will take place in May and June in support and celebration of the certifications. As previously announced, the lead singing duties have been taken over by Skip from The Wynona Riders. The band also regrets to announce that drummer D.H. Peligro is taking some personal time off, and will not be joining the band for these shows. He will be temporarily replaced by Dave Scheff. Dave is from the San Francisco band Translator, who was responsible for the hit "Everywhere That I'm Not".

Tour dates are as follows:
May 22 Rio - Leeds, England
May 23 Liquid Room - Edinburgh, Scotland
May 24 Newcastle Academy - Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England
May 25 Academy 2 - Manchester, England
May 27 Academy - Bristol, England
May 28 Electric Ballroom - London, England
May 29 Academy - Oxford, England
June 6 House of Blues - Los Angeles, CA
June 7 House Of Blues - San Diego, CA
June 8 The Wheelhouse - Hemet, CA

Dead Kennedys have been called "one of the most popular and important American hardcore punk bands of the late seventies/early eighties" by the Rough Guide to Rock.
Spin Magazine named the band's Special 25th Anniversary Edition of Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables one of the Top 10 reissues of 2005, alongside other icons including Bob Dylan, RUN-D.M.C., Ray Charles and the Kinks. Over the years, the band's catalogue has sold nearly two million units.
