New York, NY (Top40 Charts) British rising star
Grace Carter returns with her powerful new video "
Saving Grace" - a dedication to her mother and all the women that helped shape her.
Fresh off the back of supporting Mabel, Dua Lipa, Dermot Kennedy, and Rag N Bone Man on their recent UK and European tours (with shows at both Brixton Academy and
Alexandra Palace), 'Saving Grace' is an emotive and empowering anthem from the 20-year-old talented singer / songwriter. The London born, Brighton raised singer's latest offering is a confessional track with thunderous percussion, ethereal piano and Grace's unforgettable vocal. The visual sees
Grace accompanied by her closest friends as she sings the powerful lyrics, whilst the visual ends on a touching shot of her and her mother.
Speaking on 'Saving Grace',
Grace Carter said, "Saving
Grace is a song I wrote for my mum and the strong women who helped her raise me. I spent my whole childhood focused on what wasn't there and this song is about the moment I realised the most important people have been right in front of me this whole time."
Grace grew up in Brighton listening to the likes of
Lauryn Hill and Nina Simone, which is evident in her powerful songwriting, which shows emotional and musical maturity. She began songwriting during her school days, and at the age of fourteen was already performing her own material in public. One year later,
Grace had converted her bedroom into a makeshift recording studio and when she reached
Music College she taught herself the piano by watching YouTube videos.
Grace's debut EP is due for release June 15 and has sold out her first solo show at London's Hoxton
Square Bar & Kitchen on 6th June.
Grace has also just been confirmed to support HAIM on their forthcoming UK + European Tour. Armed with emotionally exposing songs and a once-seen-never-forgotten live presence, 2018 looks set to be Grace's breakout year.
