NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) - After record-breaking back-to-back No 1 album debuts by
Danity Kane and Day26, P.
Diddy decided it was time to put the hardest working bands in show business on a national tour. In addition, P.
Diddy revealed that MTV cameras will document the tour for the new season of the hit reality series "Making the Band" airing late summer. The official tour dates for the "P.
Diddy and MTV Presents Making The Band 4 - The Tour" were announced today on "TRL." The cross-country, multi-artist bill will feature the hit reality series' two No 1-selling superstar groups,
Danity Kane and Day26, as well as fellow "MTB4" star, Donnie Klang. Joining the tour as special guest will be Bad Boy recording artist Cheri Dennis.
"P. Diddy and MTV Presents Making The Band 4 - The Tour" will take off on May 24th at Orlando, Florida's Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre, then travel the country through mid-June, hitting such major markets as Miami, New York, Detroit, Chicago, and Las Vegas (see below itinerary). The tour will culminate on June 9th and 10th with an eagerly awaited two-night stand at Los Angeles' historic Wiltern Theatre.
Pre-sale tickets for "P. Diddy and MTV Presents Making The Band 4 - The Tour" will be available on Thursday, April 17th via the official Bad Boy Records website, www.badboyonline.com. All remaining tickets will then go on sale to the general public on Saturday, April 19th.
P. Diddy officially announced the tour to the world on Tuesday, April 15th with an appearance on MTV's TRL. Both Danity Kane and Day26 - who last month scored back-to-back No 1 debuts on the SoundScan/Billboard 200 album chart - performed live on the broadcast, which also featured a visit from Donnie Klang. "TRL" airs weekdays on MTV at 3:30 pm ET/PT (check local listings).
"WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE," the RIAA gold-certified new album from Bad Boy recording group Danity Kane, made an explosive arrival atop the SoundScan/Billboard 200 album chart upon its March release. The album's success marked the group's second consecutive No 1 chart entry - following their 2006 RIAA platinum-certified, self-titled debut - and gives them the distinction of being the first female group in Billboard chart history to have both their debut and sophomore albums enter the main album chart at No 1.
"Damaged," the album's first hit single, is the week's "Most Added" track at CHR/Top 40 radio outlets nationwide, while also logging top 30 airplay at Rhythmic. In addition, the track's companion video - directed by Syndrome (Pretty Ricky, Lupe Fiasco, Trey Songz) - is currently the No 1 Most Played clip on MTV, and has been a top 10 favorite on MTV's "TRL Daily Countdown" since its debut.
What's more, Danity Kane will make a special in-concert appearance on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," slated for Wednesday, April 16th (Check local listings).
Danity Kane is: Dawn, Aubrey, D. Woods, Shannon, and Aundrea.
Bad Boy Records topped the SoundScan/Billboard 200 album chart for a second consecutive week as Day26's self-titled debut album followed Danity Kane's "WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE" into the No 1 spot in its first week in release. With total sales exceeding 190,000, "DAY26" - which features the current hit, "Got Me Going" and the upcoming single, "Since You Been Gone" - officially logged the biggest-selling debut album from a male R&B group in the 17-year history of SoundScan.
"Got Me Going" is continuing Bad Boy's remarkable streak of hit singles. The Mario Winans-produced track has bulleted its way into the Top 25 at Urban radio outlets nationwide, while also drawing serious airplay at Rhythmic, Top 40, and Urban AC.
"DAY26" is also proving a digital sensation, presently standing at No 2 on the iTunes Store's "Top R&B/Soul Albums" chart, with the iTunes Exclusive "Bonus Track Version" not far behind. What's more, the "Got Me Going" companion video recently reached No 1 on the "Top R&B/Soul Music Videos" tally (where it remains a Top 5 favorite).
The "Got Me Going" clip - again directed by Syndrome - is currently in "Big 10" rotation at MTV, where it has also been a top 10 smash on the "TRL Daily Countdown" since its debut. The video has also been firmly locked onto the top 10 on BET's "106 & Park," where Day26 recently performed live twice in one week.
Day26 is: Brian Andrews, Mike McCluney, Qwanell Mosley (a.k.a. "Q"), Robert Curry, and Willie Taylor.
Bad Boy recording artist Cheri Dennis is quickly becoming known as one of today's most extraordinary new R&B performers. Her acclaimed debut album, "IN AND OUT OF LOVE," was released exclusively last November on the iTunes Store (www.itunes.com) - the first-ever major label R&B album to receive a three-month digital exclusive release via iTunes. The album immediately landed in the top 10 on iTunes' "Top R&B/Soul Albums" sales chart, fueled in part by the Rodney Jerkins-produced album track, "Remind You," which drew over a quarter of a million free downloads as the iTunes Store's "Single of the Week."
Now available in stores, "IN AND OUT OF LOVE" also features the current hit jam, "Portrait of Love (Feat. Yung Joc and Gorilla Zoe)," as well as Cheri's breakthrough debut single, "I Love You."
