Boston pop/rock band
Boys Like Girls -
Martin Johnson (vocals, guitar), Bryan Donahue (bass), John Keefe (drums), and Paul DiGiovanni (guitar) - will be touring the states, including a set of October dates with labelmates Lostprophets, through the end of the year (see itinerary following) in support of the group's recently released debut album, Boys Like Girls.
The first single slated to ship to radio early 2007 will be "The Great Escape."
Says Amplifier Magazine: "This album is a slick and hooky Emo/power-pop record that contains urgent teen hormone-fueled jams ('Five Minutes To Midnight'), rev-it-up roadtunes ('The Great Escape'), and frantic diary entries ('Hero/Heroine')."
Produced by Matt Squire (Panic! At The Disco, Northstar, Hit The Lights), Boys Like Girls was released on August 22 on Red Ink/Columbia Records and quickly made serious inroads on both the Alternative New Artist (No 24) and the Billboard Heatseekers (No 78) charts. The album has hit No 16 on iTunes Alternative Album chart and reached No 68 on the iTunes Overall Top Album chart.
Boys Like Girls have also been enjoying some incredible exposure online with more than 1.4 millions total plays on the group's My Space page (https://www.myspace.com/boyslikegirls) where the band has logged more than a half million profile views, making them the No 5 Emo artist on the site. In addition, the band has been a Top 10 mainstay on Purevolume's Emo and Alternative artist charts for over two months.
The Boys Like Girls video for "Hero/Heroine" has been viewed more than 450,000 times online and became the No 29 most linked video of all time on YouTube (https://youtube.com/watch?v=bReVwemN5iE)
