Santa Monica, CA (Top40 Charts/ 429 Records) - Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen recording artist
Travie McCoy has announced plans for a major summer tour, celebrating the recent release of his smash solo debut, "LAZARUS." Travie will join
Rihanna on her hugely anticipated "Last Girl On Earth Tour," set to hit the road beginning on July 2nd at Auburn, Washington's White River Amphitheatre. The trek - which also features special guest
Ke$ha - will then wind its way across North America, culminating August 28th at the New York
State Fair in Syracuse (see below itinerary).
"Billionaire (Feat. Bruno Mars)," the first hit single from "LAZARUS," has just exploded into the top 5 on Billboard's "Hot 100," coming in as the week's "Greatest Digital Gainer." The track is an unqualified multi-format radio blockbuster, having already hit the top 10 at CHR/Pop and the top 15 at Rhythmic outlets nationwide.
What's more, the "Billionaire" companion music video is scoring at both VH1 and MTV, which recently named Travie an "MTV P.U.S.H. (Play Until Someone Hears) Artist Of The Week," with over 100 promotional spots airing across all MTV platforms. In addition, "Billionaire" has just debuted on BET's 106 & Park, while also remaining in steady rotation at Teen Nick and Fuse (where it was recently the network's No 1 most played clip).
Travie - who recently wrapped his first-ever solo tour, accompanying Photo Finish recording duo 3OH!3 and Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen labelmates Cobra Starship on the epic "Too Fast For Love" tour, presented by MTV - will mark the release of "LAZARUS" with a pair of national television appearances, both accompanied by Bruno Mars. The pair will perform on the Tuesday, June 15th installment of NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, followed next week by a June 21st visit to NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (check local listings). The latter appearance will see McCoy and Mars backed by the show's acclaimed house band - and former Travie tourmates - The Roots.
Known far and wide as the frontman of alternative hip-hop superstars Gym Class Heroes, "LAZARUS" sees McCoy teaming up with a diverse roster of talent for a genre-busting, groundbreaking solo debut. The album has quickly reaped critical acclaim, with Rolling Stone waxing rhapsodic over "some of the most likable, radio-ready pop songs you'll hear all year." In its three-starred rave, USA Today hailed the album's "shiny all-night party gems such as 'Dr. Feel Good' (featuring Cee Lo Green)," while noting that "the true keeper is the introspective 'The Manual,' featuring T-Pain and Young Cash." Spin summed it up, naming the collection one of "The 25 Summer Albums That Matter Most" and declaring that "'LAZARUS' is so bright you'll need (designer) shades."
McCoy, of course, first achieved international stardom in 2006 with Gym Class Heroes' RIAA gold certified "AS CRUEL AS SCHOOL CHILDREN," which featured the chartbusting No 1 multi-format hit, "Cupid's Chokehold/Breakfast In America." The following year saw them named "Best New Artist" at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. "THE QUILT," released in 2008, earned critical praise for its unique collaborations with such diverse stars as Busta Rhymes, Estelle, The-Dream, and Daryl Hall. McCoy and Gym Class Heroes are currently writing a new album, due out next year.
