A day before schools re-open and seven days after the official release of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, KCPE examination results, parents of over 400,000 candidates out of the 776,000 that sat the 2011 examination are a worried lot. These are the candidates, comprising 52 percent of the total number, who scored below 250 marks out of the maximum possible 500. According to the Kenya National Association of Parents, the candidates will be locked out of secondary schools come the form one selection. The Association's National Secretary General Musau Ndunda says given that the Minister for Education appears to have banned the practice of repeating classes, the 400,000 will now have their education and hopes for a bright career, cut short.
