Why I Believe Christians Would Benefit from Studying MBTI

In my persuasive class, we were assigned to give a 7-8 minute persuasive speech on any topic. I chose to give mine on why I believe Christians should figure out their accurate MBTI type and how it would benefit them. We were also assigned to construct an outline that our professor would follow as we speak. I am clearly not a “script” or “outline” person (my spontaneous speaking videos usually have like 3-4 bullet points with a sentence or idea—then I fly with it), however, I tried my best. And the outline can be found below. My original blog on this topic can be found here as well: https://deezy2blessed.wordpress.com/2016/02/29/embracing-who-you-are-and-becoming-even-better/ Feel free to contact me for type verifications though! Blog Site: Deezy2Blessed.WordPress.Com Facebook: Deezy Mensah (https://www.facebook.com/Deezy2Cold) Twitter: @Deezy2_Blessed (https://twitter.com/Deezy2_Blessed) Instagram: @Deezy2Blessed Introduction: I. Hook- In this world, everyone is a mutant. That’s right. Each individual, including you listening. We were all created by God and gifted with four main cognitive functions each (super powers). A few of us are aware of these powers, but majority of us have little to no idea about them let alone how to use them to their full potential. II. I was introduced to cognitive function theory two and a half years ago and has since then been studying its depths as well as how one may use it to personally develop from a biblical standpoint. III. I firmly believe that it is essential for every Christian to not only figure out what their accurate MBTI type is, but then to study on it for self awareness, develop themselves, and become the best version of themselves possible whilst using their natural abilities to build God's kingdom. MBTI should also be used to understand fellow Christians and even nonbelievers as well so we may better relate to them (1 Corinthians 9:22). IV. Overview- A. God has given us all natural special abilities, why not maximize them? B. As the body of Christ, we must understand how all the body parts work and which one we are to work together. Similar to spiritual gifts. C. To understand one another and ourselves would create more unity in The Body of Christ and ultimately the world. D. God truly did create each and every one of us the way we are for a reason. We should learn to embrace that because it is our differences that can make the positive differences and changes in the world. And that will only occur when we unite and use these differences to our advantage. Body 1.) As Christians we should want to live up to our full potential. 1.) Romans 12:1-2 2.) 2 Corinthians 8:21 3.) 2 Peter 1:5-8* (Favorite) 2.) To be Christ-like means to be exactly what we are referred to as Christians—The Body of Christ. 1.) 1 Corinthians 12:14-26 (read 14-18 to class) 2.) A body is made up of many different parts that each have their own function and work best when together. 3.) We are not to be exactly like Christ in persona, but in holiness whilst still keeping our individuality. 3.) To understand one another and ourselves would create more unity in The Body of Christ and ultimately the world. 1.) MBTI would help in understanding one another as individuals and further create harmony amongst the saints. 2.) MBTI would help us better delegate tasks within the church as we figure out our strong suits. 3.) MBTI will help us with understanding the best ways to communicate to different people. 4.) We were ultimately created for a purpose and we should embrace who we are. 1.) We should not try and conform to another MBTI type. It may insult God. 2.) We should not envy or ridicule other types knowing that God made them the way they are for a reason as well. 3.) The swan and eagle are both beautiful creatures. Conclusion: I. Christians should once again not only figure out what their ACCURATE MBTI type is, but use the tool for self awareness, and then personal development to further God's kingdom. II.
