When you ask someone who is some of the most influential rappers that helped shaped the genre into what it is today many would say Tupac, The Notorious B.I.G., and Eminem. Eminem started rapping in 1988 which is one year after Tupac started if you can believe it. Eminem has been in the rap industry for so long that he personally has seen it evolve and go through all of its phases until the present. It is safe to say Eminem is one of the founding fathers for the rap sound we all love and enjoy. Even though Eminem started rapping in 1988, he didn’t put out an album until November 12, 1996, titled “Infinite”. “Infinite” caught the ears of the great and legendary rapper/producer, Dr. Dre. Dr. Dre eventually went on to sign Eminem and turned him into the rapper we all know. Once Dr. Dre collaborated with Eminem to create “The Slim Shady LP” is when Eminem really took off! “The Slim Shady LP” got over 5 million sales and that’s not even counting all of the certifications he has received. “Eminem - Not Afraid (Official Video)” is easily Eminem’s most popular song but it also showcases the vulnerable side to Eminem that we aren’t used to seeing. “Eminem - Not Afraid (Official Video)” truly captured and portrayed what Eminem wanted us to know. Throughout his career, which is a long one, we have seen the ups and downs of Eminem. Do you ever think Eminem gets tired of it? I think so, Eminem is constantly going on breaks for months to years at a time. Even though Eminem dominated the charts from 2000-2010, I believe his reign is coming to an end.
