Adam Carroll, "Blondie," // GemsOnVHS™

As we drove through Texas recording with the Hill Country Devil and Ross Cooper, we knew we had to find and shoot for a session with the living legend Adam Carroll. Ask any respectable folker their inspirations, and Carroll will eventually make it to your ears. Colter Wall described him to me, off the cuff, as the greatest living unknown. He's a songwriter's songwriter - a man with a catalogue so solid one immediately wonders how he isn't sung at every campfire in the country. He agreed to meet up with us in the country outside Austin, TX. His wife Chris, great in her own right and a real character, came with. I listen to Adam religiously, so had my own song request and he was gracious enough to oblige with this version of Blondie. Carroll is a fantastic picker, but it's his carefully woven stories that make his music stand apart from the rest. He paints a picture, puts you in a movie, burns a hole in your playlists, wears out your CDs, throws you down a staircase then picks you up, dusts you off and sends you on your way. Don't miss this. Adam and Chris Carroll perform, Adam's song Blondie and Dagwood from his record, Looking out the Screen Door. That and all of Adam's records can be purchased at www.adaamcarroll.com.
