Next to The Beatles, Gerry & the Pacemakers were probably the most successful Mersey band to emerge in the early Sixties. Indeed, their first three releases all made the UK #1 spot - an achievement that remained unmatched for 20 years (until Frankie Goes to Hollywood equaled it). "How Do You Do It?" was written by Mitch Murray and originally offered to Adam Faith and then to Brian Poole. Of course, it fit Gerry's voice and style perfectly.
