Esa: Our collaboration started already 20 years ago in a tv series ’’Laulava Sydän’’ in TV2, where Ville was invited as a special guest to sing Badding’s songs. Remembering this, after finding these Rauli’s old demo cassettes I contacted Ville and that’s how our next collaboration started. And here we are. So at first I started it like, when the cassettes were found several years ago, that I stared at them on the corner of the writing desk for three years, and all the time subconsciously worked with the material. And at that point when we started doing it, I already kind of had the arrangements in my head. Ville had joined in already at that point and Ville did his singing arrangement parts himself and did it relatively quickly in my opinion At least it went easily, difficulties that are usually faced while recording weren’t there. Everything went like there was some sort of guidance with us. (It went) really nicely. Ville: Amen. Ville: I’m really excited and when at home I’m training all the last little details from these Rauli’s songs… There are things that I haven’t sung before, so, there’s a lot of pressure but… Esa: You’ve had a lot of work, you need to learn the lyrics and everything, so at this point my job is a lot easier than yours. Ville: You have more experience with those songs, but no problem, training and enjoying, what could be nicer to sing when all songs feel like mom’s stroking my cheek or like I’m still wearing diapers, these songs are a big part of my childhood and youth and life overall, somehow it feels nice. It’s nice this way. This is much more fun than being the frontman of HIM and traveling around everywhere and singing shit in English.
