Crispy Pad See Ew in Bangkok with Nomadic Matt

Nomadic Matt (http://www.nomadicmatt.com/) and I went to a restaurant called Radna Yod Pad Sood 40 Years ( ร้านราดหน้ายอดผักสูตร 40ปี) in Bangkok to eat crispy pad see ew and fresh spring rolls. Radna Yod Pad Sood 40 Years ( ร้านราดหน้ายอดผักสูตร 40ปี) is a well known restaurant in the historical Phra Nakhon area of Bangkok, not far from the Giant Swing and from Democracy Monument. They specialize in a number of dishes, including radna, which is noodles and gravy, and also a dish of pad see ew made with crispy noodles. Poh pia sod (เปาะเปี๊ยะสด พิเศษ) - We started off our meal with an order of poh pia sod (เปาะเปี๊ยะสด พิเศษ), fresh Chinese style spring rolls. Radna Yod Pad Sood 40 Years ( ร้านราดหน้ายอดผักสูตร 40ปี) is one of those restaurants that attracts plenty of customers and so there are a number of other street food carts that set up shop on the outside of the restaurant so you can get drinks and snacks while you’re waiting for your main food to arrive. One of the more well known food stalls sells fresh springs rolls. The rolls were some of the better ones that I’ve had in Bangkok, but they were still a bit too sweet for my overall liking. The sauce had a tanginess like ketchup, and they actually used mustard on them too. Bamee krob pad see ew talay (บะหมี่กรอบผัดซีอิ๊วทะเล) - One of the signature dishes they serve is bamee krob pad see ew talay (บะหมี่กรอบผัดซีอิ๊วทะเล), crispy egg noodles fried dry with a mixture of seafood. Overall, it was quite tasty, and Nomadic Matt and I both thought that this was the highlight dish of the meat. Radna moo sen yai (ราดหน้าหมูเส้นใหญ่) - The dish that they are most known for, and the dish that’s in their name, is the radna, a dish of flat wide rice noodles, which are combined with thick gravy, pork, and kailan. For me it was a little on the sweet side, but it was still quite good, and you could really taste the smokiness of the wok flavor on the noodles. Pad see ew sen yai moo (ผัดซีอิ๊วเส้นใหญ่หมู) - Finally, we had a normal plate of pad see ew sen yai moo (ผัดซีอิ๊วเส้นใหญ่หมู), not with the crunchy noodles, but made the typical way with wide rice noodles. It was alright, not incredible, but alright. The crispy version definitely outdid the normal version for me.
