After three smash hits in the UK, all penned by Lennon and McCartney, Billy J Kramer was offered a fourth song from them, but (against all advice) he turned it down and recorded "Little Children", written by American duo J L McFarland and Mort Shuman. It was his second UK #1 hit and his biggest ever hit in terms of sales.
