Joe Dolce - Shaddap You Face - B-Side - Ain't In No Hurry

JOE DOLCE FACEBOOK PAGE http://on.fb.me/14rUTh9 This infamous b-side of 'Shaddap You Face' features Lin Van Hek on backing vocals. It was the first recording we ever sang on on. The 'Chris Lofven' mentioned in the middle part is the film maker and director of the original videoclip for 'Shaddap You Face'. Chris is a legend in Australian pop history having made clips for just about every single important band from the mid- 70s onward. He made a mind-boggling contribution to Australian pop culture when videoclips were still cutting edge. The song itself caused me no end of grief. Don't get me wrong - I love it - but I forgot that I had assigned the publishing rights to a US publisher back in the early 70s, when I was just an ignorant kid (compared to the ignorant adult I now am) and after 'Shaddap You Face' started making some money, he came out of the woodwork demanding something like '60%' of the royalties - as publishers tend to do. (They should all be fed heavy pasta, tied to lawyers and thrown into Mt Vesuvius with Tom Cruise and Xenu.) But I digress . . . So I was forced to take legal action and I hired Bruce Springsteen's lawyers in New York and asked them to 'make him an offer that . . . . possibly involved hanging on a meathook.' Well, they couldnt do that but they did hit him with a fraud suit. They explained their legal philosophy: 'We like to hit them in the stomach and then negotiate in the hospital.' Sounds doable. Anyway, I had to pay something (not much) but I got my entire back catalog back from him. Anyway, it's long out of print so enjoy it.
