One of the popular American Country & Western shows of the 1950s was Town Hall Party, a barn dance program put off every Saturday night in Compton, California. The West Coast's answer to the Louisiana Hayride and the Grand Ole Opry, it was broadcast first on radio and then went to TV in the Los Angeles area.
