In the late 90s and early 00s, Judge Jules' Friday night and Saturday evening shows on Radio 1 were the soundtrack to my weekend. He was also a frequent DJ at my regular clubbing haunts (Canal Club, UK Midlands, Godskitchen, Passion, Golden, Progress, Sundissential). So it's no surprise my musical tastes were heavily influenced by his at that time.
His sets usually featured Paul Masterson releases or remixes, including their collaborations under various guises. If you weren't clubbing back then, the style is a quirky blend of genres, with funky basslines and strange sound effects, including a didgeridoo and Geri Halliwell.
These are my favourite releases and remixes of theirs from 1999 and 2000, starting with their collaberations and finishing with Paul's most well known alias, Yomanda.
