Process Followed For Rental Of #3 Alexandra Street

Minister of Public Administration, Marlene McDonald, says contrary to allegations in the public domain, Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi has declared his interest in the property at #3 Alexandra Street, St. Clair. Minister McDonald made a statement in the Parliament on Friday on the rental of the building by Government. She said the rental of the property dates back some 10 years ago, and there was even interest in the building under the former People's Partnership Government. She said the rental of the property will allow the Personnel Department to consolidate its current operations under one roof. She added that the agreed rental of $575,000 is also below the fair market value rental rate. The Public Administration Minister pointed out that over the last 30 years, the Government has on many occasions rented properties owned by Cabinet Ministers or their relatives.
