Beyond our collective fear and anger about what is and isn’t happening, to create an image of the wave of change that most of us would like to see.  The cast of the video are all close friends, moms and neighbourhood kids that my son grew up with. We had a beautiful day, being together. I think the love of community, real relationships, and the willingness to include the experiences of others is the real basis of activism. “We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.” - Ursula K. Leguin “The Kids Are Having None of It" – the Vancouver-based soul-Americana artist's first new music since her breakthrough 2014 album Indian Ocean. "Kids" is an activism anthem about empowering and enabling future generations – an urgent protest song moved the burgeoning activism of young leaders-of-change. Co-produced by Frazey and John Raham (Dan Mangan, Stars, Jon Bryant, Joshua Hyslop), “Kids” is activist folk music at its core, with Frazey's calm, confident warning compelled by a visceral bass guitar backbone: “Get out of the way / You’ve had your day / And it’s no longer how we gon’ play.” The accompanying video by co-directors Brian Lye and Jen Weih (creators of Frazey's video for "Done") is a strong statement on the fabric of youth, community, and unity that envelops "Kids." Lyrics: I’m not worried, I’m not worried Get out of the way You’ve had your day And it’s no longer how we gon’ play The kids are having none of it The kids are having none of it They can’t be bought, they can't be taught your hate I’m not worried, I’m not worried We’re out here to evolve I guess u missed the call And to the party u are rather late Can feel what has arrived It’s fresh and it is so alive The form will take reflection from the time All u deal is fear, the easy way to steal The likes of u should never hold the wheel Always a mistake, to underestimate watch them now, they’re stepping to the plate The kids are having none of it The kids are having none of it They can’t be bought, they can’t be taught your hate
