Phil Denny - Diggin' On [Upswing 2015]

SONG: Diggin’ On ARTIST: Phil Denny CD: UPSWING [2015] CD on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Upswing-Phil-Denny/dp/B00ZZL90YQa! CD on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/upswing/id1008843325 Nataly’s Corner is proud to feature the music of contemporary & smooth jazz saxophonist Phil Denny: Well ladies…I confess! I was captured by Phil’s picture long before I heard his music. Once I heard the rhythmic but smooth sax sounds from this album, I knew this guy had a lot going on for him than just his appealing looks. The best way for me to describe Phil Denny’s jazz style is with the words “soulful” and “energetic”. I knew instantly that I wanted his music on the Channel so I contacted Phil and introduced myself, requesting his permission to post videos with his music and he politely gave me his approval. Phil Denny’s BIO states that he is from Lansing, Michigan and started out as a businessman, with the title of vice president with a mortgage broker firm, before he followed his real passion. Having been drawn to jazz music, during his high school years, Phil performed with the Lansing Community College jazz ensemble. Quite an accomplishment for him, as a high school student, to be playing with a college jazz ensemble. He continued to play with this jazz ensemble after his post-graduate years. Among Phil’s influences are some of the heaviest jazz musician(s): Grover Washington Jr., Richard Elliot, Kirk Whalum and Boney James. Phil Denny blasted into the smooth jazz world like a rocket in 2012 with his debut album, “Crossover”, which brought him much national attention and into the mainstream. The album produced two Billboard chart hit singles, of which one, “Push”, remained on the smoothjazz charts for over 20 weeks. Among his performance highlights is sharing the stage with smooth jazz guitarist, Peter White, at the 2012 Dubai International Jazz Festival. Since then, music critics say that Phil Denny sold out every show he has produced. Phil Denny is not just an up & coming saxophone player with good looks…he’s a rising musician whose contributions to the jazz genre’ is extremely noticeable…and not just by fans but also by his music peers, as well! There is no doubt that we will be hearing much more from this very talented Saxophonist!
