Following this simple process ensures you get more customers and makes your life much easier. If you don’t ask for referrals, you don’t get them. People don’t ask for referrals for three reasons: laziness, you don’t know when to ask or how to ask. Laziness. If you are watching this video, you are definitely searching for solutions to your questions, so you are not lazy! When to ask. You should ask people for referrals when they are happy with what you have done for them. In that case they give out a set of words like “thank you”. That means they feel slightly indebted to you. So, listening to the word “thank you” is the exact right time to ask for referrals. How to ask. How to get somebody to agree to take an action? The first words you can say to get people to agree instantaneously are “couldn’t you do a small favor for me?” And everybody says “yes”. The second word start with “you wouldn’t happen to know”.The second part of the question is “you wouldn’t happen to know, just one person”. If people say “yes I know someone, and I’ll think in the future” they will not do it, not because they don’t want to, because they don’t have time.
