I don't own the rights to this song. SSgt. Barry Sadler: The Ballad of the Green Berets. Barry Sadler and Robin Moore, Jr., were both soldiers stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, when they wrote this song in 1963. Sadler sold seven million records within the first six months of its release on January 1, 1966, in the heat of the Vietnam conflct. It was the No. 1 song for two weeks on the country charts and five weeks on the pop charts. Sadler went on to sell over two million books, led by the Casca the Eternal Mercenary series.
