The dream team debuted the explosive remix as the finale of Looptopia in April this year. The 20,000-strong crowd went wild and sang along the whole time! Social media was abuzz with video posts and eager fans wanting to know the release date. Sam shares his excitement: “I’ve always wanted to do a Chinese song, just never had the opportunity. Trouze and I met at Miami Music Week and we’ve been hanging out ever since. When Trouze sent me the track, I loved it. I could almost immediately see how I can put my twist to it!” Sam and Trouze first met in 2017 and connected instantly over their passions for music and entrepreneurship. Fun fact: the first song Trouze played to his firstborn was Sam’s iconic remix of Show Me Love! “It was challenging at first since I don’t understand Mandarin,” Sam laughs as he looks back on the process. “I couldn’t tell when a sentence began or ended! A lot of effort went into this and I think the end result blends each of our signature elements very nicely with the original track.” For Trouze, pushing the envelope with this Chinese ballad/EDM number is a moment he’s been waiting for: “I grew up in Singapore listening to Mandarin classics and later discovered my love for house and trance music in London. The contrast of the tonal language versus the energy of dance beats complemented perfectly in my mind. One of my dreams has always been to combine the two genres. I feel that it’s these refreshed familiar sounds that appeal to audience today.” When picking a vocalist to complete this masterpiece, Trouze shares, “Beyond our longstanding friendship, I’d always respected Derrick’s contemporary vocal prowess and casual style. Having him on vocals was an easy decision for Derrick who gracefully accepted.”
