On May 18, 1996, the 41st Eurovision Song Contest was held in Oslo, Norway. The United Kingdom was among the favourites to win with (Ooh Aah) Just a Little Bit, sung by Australian Gina G. In the year before televoting came into being at the contest, the juries placed it 8th. The song went on to become the biggest Eurovision hit for years - and even reached No.1 in the USA. Here Gina G mimes her way through a performance in Oslo harbour for Top of the Pops, broadcast on BBC1 on Thursday, May 16, 1996. The song was No.2 in the UK charts on the day of the contest, the highest position for a UK entry since Bardo with One Step Further in 1982.
