We hiked the connector between Kawiwi and the backside of Kamaile'unu Ridge. Joining me was Gene Witte, Francis Jimenez, Laredo Muredo, and myself. There are two major cliff faces that must be descended before the climb up the backside of Kamaile'unu. The climb up Kamaile'unu is not as difficult as we thought it would be and we were soon at the terminus of the club hike. From there, Gene treated us to a bonus and showed us the way down a side ridge immediately from the Kamaile'unu terminus, thus avoiding the long and grueling hike down the regular Kamaile'unu Ridge down to Farrington Hwy. We descended "Knife Edge Ridge" to the floor of Makaha Valley and took the valley road back to the Makaha Towers.
