DAVID ESSEX Hold Me Close

For some reason, David Essex loomed large for me in 1975, and yet when going back through his discography; it was only the pair of British #1's 'Gonna make you a star' (#4 in oz) and this gem 'Hold Me Close' a #2 on the National Australian chart that resonated with me. His distinctive voice and handsome looks were everywhere that year, and I recall my sister thinking him a 'bit of alright'! He fell off my radar after that, despite having a string of hits through the rest of the decade and beyond, Australia didn't really remain as enamored with the English performer as his homeland where he became a star of stage and screen as well as a recording artist.
