IMRO Taking Songwriting to the Classroom Series with Luan Parle

Now in its seventh year, the IMRO Songwriting at School Programme takes in secondary schools throughout Ireland. This exciting programme involves representatives of the IMRO membership department travelling to secondary schools throughout the country with a guest artist to present a series of live concerts and workshops. Most recently songwriters such as Luan Parle and Ruth Anne Cunningham have participated in these workshops. A group of students with a particular interest in music from each school take part in a workshop with a guest artist who provides students with tips for successful songwriting as well as information on the highs and lows of life in music. IMRO provides information on the importance of copyright, performing rights and current trends in the music industry. Students are also given an opportunity to write and perform a new song with their peers during the course of the workshop.
