The Sylvers ~ Boogie Fever 1975 Hot Tracks Purrfection Edit
When Larkin Arnold signed the Sylvers, he paired them with ex Motown producer Freddie Perren who had helped confirm the star power of the Jackson 5 with three #1 singles, "I Want You Back", "The Love You Save" and "ABC", then for Michael solo on "Ben". Perren was pleased to hear the intricate harmonies the family group created and crafted a song with lyricist Keni St James that featured the word "boogie". "Boogie Fever" gave each of the Sylvers a chance to shine and the funky tune propelled the group to #1 for the week ending May 15, 1976. The follow up, "Cotton Candy" peaked at #57, but the group rebounded with "Hot Line" a #5 hit in 1977.
