A song for hillsborough justice | Peter Hooton | TEDxLiverpool
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Peter Hooton is perhaps best known as the lead vocalist for the Liverpool band 'The Farm' but he was also present at Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield for the worst stadium disaster in Britain's history when 96 fans were crushed to death. Since then he's remained a fervent campaigner to uncover the truth about what happened that day. In this emotional talk, Peter tells about his journey leading from Hillsborough to creating a UK Christmas No 1 Single in 2012 to raise funds to keep the campaign for Hillsborough justice alive.
Peter Hooton is the vocalist of Liverpool-based group "The Farm" and a long-time Hillsborough campaigner. He was the lynchpin of the Justice Collective who were behind the surprise Christmas 2012 number one single 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother'. Members of the Justice Collective recruited support from stars such as Sir Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Alan Hansen and Kenny Dagliesh among many others.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
