You down with OCD? (Naughty By Nature "OPP" parody) Thanks for taking the time to check out my Youtube channel and this description writey bit. I initially created this Youtube Channel because I love the idea that something I create and upload could potentially make someone smile. I have also found that the creative process involved in writing,recording and uploading parodies songs to a Youtube Channel has really helped me with the challenges I face with OCD and the depressive feelings that can be there when it's all gets a bit overwhelming. Life can be overwhelmingly hard, irrespective of who or where you are.Sadly in my role as a Brighton Seafront officer more and more of the incidents we are called to support the emergency services with are mental health related.Traditionally I think it's men that can often struggle to ask for help,especially if they really need it.I'd like to try and make this Youtube channel a way of encouraging the conversation around Male Mental Health. "It means nothing other than if you have 1 or 2 children there's a strong chance that you're getting a tiny bit more sleep than us.That you have maybe 10-15% less plastic in your house.That your car may look more like a car and less like something used to transport a small army through a war zone.When it comes to giving anyone advice on anything I'm very much coming at it from the school of..."Wow surely I'm not making this same mistake again? Oh no okay it looks like I totally am!" I think a solid sense of humour will round off the sharp edges of life which is why my answers will always come in the form of an out of tune parody song.Children and youtube channels are unique but I think there are some challenges with both that are universal. "Such as?" "Okay... 1) Not getting enough sleep/time to create content/a quiet part of the house to yourself? 2) Suddenly finding any utube activity that is not being at home cleaning,wiping or feeding someone as a bit of a treat? 3) Waking up in a cold sweat thinking about the school run or with great idea for a video? 4) Being word perfect on the Gruffalo? 5) Dragging yourself through the exhaustion and stress of parenting life and wondering how it's possible for you to still feel happier now than when you could watch telly in bed all weekend and get drunk on a Tuesday night?"
