Dean Lesher Regional Center, Walnut Creek, CA, USA Carolina Lugo invited an international cast of artists to take her audience on a journey of timeless travel to Spain for a night of love, high energy and passion, to celebrate the Brisas de España Flamenco Dance Company 8th Concert Season. The traditions of Spanish and Flamenco dance, song and music are deeply rooted in families, passed from one generation to the next. This year she is proud to present "Sonidos de dos Familias". Carolina and her daughter Carolé A. with their rich history of performing Flamenco and Classical Spanish dance to sold out audiences, Carolina Lugo is a gifted performer and an award winning choreographer. She has danced and toured throughout the United Stares and internationally with such notable companies as the Lola Montes Spanish Dance Company, Luisa Triana Flamenco Dance Company, Jose Greco and Rosa Montoya Bailes Flamencos as well as with many leading Flamenco artists from Spain and America including Genaro Gomez, Cruz Luna, Teodoro Morca , Benito Palacios, Manuel Betanzos, Concha Vargas, Antonio Vargas and Pepa Montes. She first performed with Los Angeles Philharmonic for multiple seasons at the Hollywood Bowl and was a featured soloist with the Los Angeles Opera in their productions of "Carmen" and "La Traviata" at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Carolina's Flamenco Ballets to the music of leading Spanish composers of the 20th Century have been presented symphonies to critical acclaim and sold out audiences.Most recently she has ollaborated with Conductor Barry Jekowsky and the California Symphony, Joyce Johnson-Hamilton and the Diablo Symphony, Conductor Mitchell Sardou-Klein and the Peninsula Symphony, Allan Pollack and the Mendocino World Music Festival and the Sacramento Camellia Symphony, Golden Gate Opera Conducted by Geoffrey Gallegos and stage directed by Edna Garabedian, Managing Director of California Opera Ass., and in China with the Hangzhou Opera Company. Carolé A. (Principal Dancer) is a gifted artist and accomplished performer. She is the daughter of Ms. Lugo and a fifth generation dancer in her family. She began her training in Flamenco at the age of 11 with Rosa Montoya, Carolina Lugo, Manuel Betanzos, José Galvan, Omayra Amaya, Concha Vargas, Antonio Vargas and in Spanish, Classical and Regional Dance with Ms. Lugo. She is one of the most prominent young Flamenco and Spanish dance artists on the West Coast. At 14 years old, she made her professional debut with Rosa Montoya's Bailes Flamencos Dance Company. She performs regularly with Brisas de España as a Principal Dancer as a soloist. She is thoroughly trained in Ballet and Modern Dance. She resently returned from Spain, where she studied with renowned Pepa Montes.. To take this journey, Carolina has invited one of Spain's Best Singers Jesus Montoya, to appear with her and the Company. He was born in Seville, Spain into a Gypsy family steeped in Flamenco tradition. His energetic stage presence and unforgettable voice have earned him the name "El Genio Gitano" (The Gypsy Dynamo). The Los Angeles Times goes even further by declaring him the, "Pavarotti of Flamenco." He also appeared with Jose Greco, Maria Benitez, La Tania, Yaelisa & Caminos Flamencos with Jason McGuire , Susana DiPalma & Zorongo Flamenco, Carmen Remero, Esmeralda Enriquez, Cachy Del Sol, Juan Talavera, Adam Del Monte, Rosario Ancer ,Victor Kolstee, Fernanda Remero, Isabel Vargas, Andres Marin, Pepe Rios, La Cipri & Manuela Salazar, Carmen De Torres, Jaun Ogalla, Alejandro Granados, Isabel Lopez, Ciro, Juaquin Ruiz, Estrella Morena, La Trucco, and Carmela Greco. He was also joined by the legendary Gypsy Guitarist, Gino D'Auri. He was born in Rome and has toured the World many times with Jose Greco as well as appearing on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Gino like Carolina was trained in Flamenco and Classical music and plays in a style that moves the heart and cuts to the very soul of the music.
