WATCH: The Kurds are 'no angels' Trump says in meeting with Italian president
President Donald Trump told reporters on Oct. 16 that the Kurds in Syria are "no angels" and that they are "well protected" by Syria. Answering questions during a bilateral meeting with Italy's president, Trump defended his highly criticized decision to withdraw U.S. troops from northern Syria, allowing Turkey to launch an invasion against the Kurds. Kurdish fighters were a key partner of U.S. troops in the battle against ISIS in northeast Syria.
