WE BUY CARS!
AC’s Cobra may be one of the best-known Anglo-American combinations but MotoeXotica Classic Cars has a compelling alternative in this 1971 Jaguar E-type Series III Roadster with a blown American heart. Under the large, forward-hinged bonnet is a turbocharged Ford 351 CID Windsor V-8 engine in place of the factory V-12 with quadruple Zenith carburetors.

Built in Coventry, England, this car is one of 15,290 E-Type Series III models made between 1971 and 1975.
Finished in British Racing Green, the car’s paint and trim are in overall very good order, however there are blemishes on the driver’s side of the rear deck and a dimple in the bonnet. The car’s bodywork is solid and straight, the engine bay is in very good order while the black, folding top is in good, original shape. The chrome bladed bumpers are in good, original order but there are scuffs on the rear one.
More details on the blown V-8 include: Vontech intercooler, Turbonetics intake manifold, MSD ignition with a boost retard dial in cockpit, Cobra custom headers, cold-air intake and for an even greater adrenaline rush, there’s a disconnected nitrous oxide system with a connection in the boot for the bottle. The engine breathes through the original quad exhausts. Backing this engine is a three-speed automatic transmission with a Hurst shifter. This example also has front-wheel disc brakes.
The car rolls on Dunlop Sport 5000 radials in front, size 225/60ZR15, and Fuzion radials in back, size 225/60R15. All the tires are wrapped factory wire wheels with knock-off hubs. The tires are in good order while the wheels are in good, original order.
Inside, there are black seats with Simpson, four-point harnesses. The bucket seats and carpeting are in good, original order. Behind the seats is a roll bar. The original, three-spoke steering wheel, instrument panel with Auto Meter gauges and inner door panels are all in good, original order, too. Car comes with a tool roll, screw and scissor jack. Completing the cockpit is a Pioneer AM/FM stereo with CD player.
The newly used 105-inch wheelbase now offered significantly more room in all directions. The Series III is easily identifiable by the large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tires, four exhaust tips and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V-12.
Upon its release in March 1961, Enzo Ferrari called the E-Type “the most beautiful car ever made.†In 2004, Sports Car International magazine placed the it at number one on their list of Top Sports Cars of the 1960s. In March 2008, the Jaguar E-Type ranked first in The Daily Telegraph online list of the World’s “100 most beautiful cars†of all time. Outside automotive circles, the E-type received prominent placement in Diabolik comic series, the Austin Powers films and the television series, “Mad Men.â€
Convertible competition to this Jaguar in 1971 included Chevrolet’s Corvette, Excalibur’s Series II SS Phaeton, Lotus Elan S4 Drophead S/E, Mercedes-Benz’s 450SL and Porsche’s 911E Targa.
If you’re looking for a Jaguar “sleeper,†you couldn’t have found a better candidate than this E-Type fortified with the power of a turbocharged Ford V-8. You should stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars today to check it out for yourself.
